The Easiest Way To Plan A Thanksgiving Outfit!
Holiday outfits can be fun and stressful if you don’t know what to wear. We’re two weeks out from Thanksgiving so we need to have a plan. Whether thats’s shopping your own closet or shopping for a fit. Let me turn you on to a formula I like to use that helps me win best dressed every time (even if it’s just in my mind lol)!
Easy 3!
Where you’re going and/or what you’re doing
How you want to feel (base this on your personality and the vibe you want to convey)
What level of comfort you need (physically and emotionally)
Here are some scenarios for the day, with a few styling tips to guide you along-
There’s levels to this!
Staying Home: Stylish Yet Effortless
If you’re home for Thanksgiving, you’ll want to look put-together but not like you’re trying too hard.
Visiting: Step up your game just a little (depending on the environment)
Going to a friends or other family members ask what the vibe is and plan accordingly
Going Out: Add some sparkle
For the fancy dinner, meeting family for the first time and the Friendsgiving girls add some shine to your look and have fun
Let’s put the formula to test:
What you’re doing: Home semi-formal dinner
What you want to feel like: Stylish and comfortable
Comfort level: Look nice but not feel restricted
Outfit ideas: Go for pieces with stretch that provide comfort, keep you feeling held in all the right places, and still give a polished look without being too tight. And don’t forget something slipper-friendly to keep it cozy.
Home for a Casual Dinner
What you’re doing: Home casual dinner
What you want to feel like: Cozy and confident
Comfort level: No restrictions
Outfit ideas: While jeans might be tempting, I’d skip them and go for leggings or knit pants paired with a stylish sweater or relaxed top. This will keep you looking cute while staying comfortable.
Small Group Dinner, Couch Surfing Included
What you’re doing: Quiet dinner for two or a small group, couch-surfing all day
What you want to feel like: Relaxed enough to sleep and eat all day
Comfort level: Almost PJs, but not quite
Outfit ideas: Go for loungewear, a matching set, or joggers—what better way to enjoy a laid-back day than in stylish, cozy pieces?
Heading Over to a Friend’s Place
What you’re doing: Going to a friend’s
What you want to feel like: Confident and cute
Comfort level: Whatever makes you feel like yourself while fitting the vibe
Outfit ideas: Check with the host to get a sense of the vibe, then choose from the previous options based on what works best for you.
Going Out to Dinner
What you’re doing: Dinner out
What you want to feel like: Sexy and confident
Comfort level: Be able to eat comfortably and still look fly
Outfit ideas: Since it’s a holiday centered around eating, stretch is your friend. Try a chic pantsuit, a smock dress with tights, or a blouse with dark wash jeans—whatever makes you feel sexy and fabulous.
And remember, no outfit is complete without a little something extra. Think about accessories and how they can add a special touch to any of these looks. Happy styling!
Bonus
What you’re doing: Meeting your partner’s family/friends for the first time
What you want to feel like: Confident and like yourself
Comfort level: Okay, we might need to make a few sacrifices here! 😂 But seriously, you want to look stylish, feel authentic, and make a good impression. Do a little recon to find out the vibe ahead of time so you can put your best foot forward without overthinking it.
